High School Completion and Graduation

High School Completion Program and Graduation for Students Not Currently Enrolled in High School

(Due to reduced state funding for students over 20, a limit will be placed on GED and High School Completion enrollments.) This program is for students who are seeking an alternative to the traditional high school setting. It is free for students 16 years and over who do not have a high school diploma and are not currently enrolled in a high school. Students 16 – 19 years of age, whose graduating class has not yet graduated, must have their registration form signed by the high school Principal or Counselor at the last school they attended or the current school district in which they are living. ALL students wishing to enroll in High School Completion classes will be required to provide Proof of Birth Date at time of registration. Proof of birth date can be in the form of a Driver’s License, State ID Card, Birth Certificate, or other government issued documentation showing the students’ name and birth date. Classes are held at the Bay-Arenac ISD Career Center in Bay City from 4:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at the Bay-Arenac ISD Living & Learning Center Arenac Campus from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, and at the Bay County Community Center from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Monday and Wednesday. The High School Completion Learning Lab courses are available in the form of an individualized, self-paced course that offers academic credits toward a high school diploma. Elective high school credits may also be earned in other Career/Technical and GED preparation courses, as well as various military and work experiences of the student. Tutoring and other student assistance may be offered in connection with both the High School Completion Learning Lab and GED programs. A graduation program is held each June for all Diploma, GED Certificate and Career/Technical program area Certificate of Completion recipients.
